Lisa and Sam - Corals, Cameo's and A Bottom Drawer!

Today we bring you the beautiful wedding of Lisa and Sam from August last year. They chose a vintage-inspired romantic theme for their flowers, with coral colours and muted tones.

Lisa began her day by getting ready with her bridesmaids at their chosen venue, Stancliffe Hall which is nestled right in the heart of the Peak District.  This magnificent grade 2 listed building has stunning views leaving you with a real sense of tranquility and calm, just the kind of setting you need for a very relaxed wedding day.  Check out the link above and have a look at the photos, you can't really appreciate the true beauty of the place until you have seen it.

The ceremony room is really unique and we had the honour of decorating it with frothy bunches of gypsophila pew ends tied to the chairs. We carried the vintage theme throughout the floral designs by using cream enamelled candlesticks topped with gypsophila topiary balls, finished with glass baubles filled with David Austin 'Juliet' roses. Just gorgeous!

Happily we had help to hang the pretty glass baubles, again filled with delicate peach roses, from the walkway between the house and ceremony room.

We also got to dress the room for the wedding breakfast, transferring some of the flowers from the ceremony room and adding a few new arrangements too.

We created a special design to fill the bottom drawer of this gorgeous vintage chest of drawers, supplied by Lisa for guests to pop their cards into - such a lovely idea and so pretty too!

So this brings us the the bridal bouquet.  The main colour being coral with flashes of greens and yellows.  We used 'Juliet' David Austin Roses as the main feature flower giving the bouquet that huge splash of coral colouring to keep in with the theme of the wedding. David Austin Roses are so in fashion at the moment and its very easy to see why,  with their delicate scent and truly stunning English Country Garden look.  We teamed them up with crespedia, burnt orange leucaspernum, brunia, rosemary, peach hypericum, eucalyptus cinerea and a little gypsophila.  The brief we got was vintage inspired, natural and romantic and we feel that we really achieved this here.

Lisa and Sam both thought through all the little details, cameos were really important - inspired by this beautiful brooch and heirloom from Lisa's grandmother

For the bridesmaids Lisa chose corsages instead of the usual bunches, which again added a fantastic uniqueness to the wedding and the flowers.  We kept them simple using two David Austin roses and a sprig of gypsophila, attaching them to coral lace Lisa gave us and incorporating those all important cameo brooches too!

As always Kate Cooper managed to capture the day beautifully with some amazing photography.  Here are a few more shots that we love.

Thank you so much for reading and yet again we hope that the blog has provided you with some pretty inspiration to make your day a unique and beautiful one.

Claire and Ryan - All Things Bright & Beautiful!

Hello all!!

So this week's blog is all about Claire and Ryan's very relaxed and informal wedding day set in the beautifully natural barns of Wood Lane Countryside Centre - a venue which is proving to be a very popular location with our brides.

Claire opted for a compact posy style bouquet with vibrant blues, yellows and creams which looked amazing against her lace ivory coloured dress.  We kept the stems short and bound the whole design together using raffia to keep that rustic natural look.

Also who says that flowers are just for the girls.  We just love this shot of Ryan with the bouquet too!

The two older bridesmaids had similar style flowers to the bride but a little less structured and with more hints of yellow to set them apart and work well with their powder blue dresses.

With the littlest flowergirl having a small bunch of daisies, a favourite of Claire's, held together with natural string.

For the button holes they wanted something stunning yet understated so we went for a single Avalanche Rose with a yellow Crespidia for the guys and a more delicate design for the ladies.  We used natural string to bind them together again which helped them bring together the natural yet stylish theme of the flowers.

We would like to thank and give credit to Rob Bamford for the photography.  Obviously some amazing shots of the bride and groom but we also love how he showed off our beautiful and bright creations for the big day.

Thanks for reading and we hope that the blog has given you some colourful inspiration!

Happy Valentine's Day - Love is in the Air!

I don't usually share personal stuff on our blog as everyone at Campbell's likes to keep things about our brides and their big day, but I'm making an exception today as it's about romance!

Mikes away at the mo and has been quite a bit since New Year, it's been really busy for both our businesses and although I really enjoyed the first week he was away (you know, lots of painting of nails, face packs and trash telly) the novelty has really worn off I've really missed him this week.  So with the help of the girls he came up with a crazy but lovely way to cheer me up as he won't be home til late this evening.

On Wednesday, totally out of the blue,  I received the first of a series of postcards which gave me a clue on how to find a hidden item in our house! The girls had shopped for the items and then squirrelled the around the house. Collectively, they made up my Valentine's pressie.

Here's the first one ...

as you can see the rain got it (also not sure about that ring mark on our table too!!) but I was able to find the first pressie - a bottle of peach juice.

Thursday came and the next postcard arrived, complete with a wonderful quote from Room With A View - a really special film for Mike and I.  It's a bit dated now but with a cast that includes Daniel Day Lewis, Helena Bonham Carter and Rupert Graves, it's full of very beautiful people, is set in Florence and is a brilliant adaptation of a wonderful EM Forster book. We'd had plans to have a special screening on our wedding day at our local art-house cinema but couldn't make the timings fit with everything else that needed to be done (you know having an actual ceremony, feeding people and partying)!

Anyway, I got cherries!

Woke up very excited today, on Valentine's Day itself, to find another postcard in the mail, but couldn't for the life of me find the pressie - it was very well concealed in my top drawer!

... then the doorbell rang and this arrived ...

... well, I added the glasses to the photo just for a bit of styling!

So yes, you've guessed it! We're having Bellini this evening when Mike gets back home - just as we did on our wedding day! Can't wait to see him and am so grateful to both my girls for engineering everything for me - they did a fab job.

Have the most wonderful day everyone, hope yours is as special. Cheers lovelies!

Oh! and I know lots of you read my blog, but I don't get many comments so I'd absolutely love it if you'd share your Valentine's Day story with me too!

Much love

Danielle & Stephen - Beautiful, British Lily of the Valley and much, much more!

Hurrah! Hello all, I've some really good news. Amy's back from maternity leave! With little Vi safely in Grandma's hands and the busiest wedding season yet about to start in March, it's not a moment too soon for the Campbell's team. It goes totally without saying that we've missed her happy, sunny disposition and creative imput - it's not been the same without her (not to mention the distinct lack of biccies and fondant fancies around here)!

Having spent the morning brainstorming our latest project, and whilst I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Becky and talked Landrovers (am beyond excited but more of this later!), Amy got on with bringing you inspiration in the form of this gorgeous wedding we designed for Danielle and Stephen, so I'll get on with my quotes and hand over to her now ...

So yes we are well aware of the awful weather outside but here at Campbell's HQ we are looking forward Spring to helps us banish those rainy day blues and what better way to cheer us up than to look back at a Spring wedding from April 2013.

Danielle and Stephen got married at the absolutely gorgeous, newly refurbished Catholic Cathedral here in Sheffield.  The brief was classic, stylish flowers that weren't too meadowy or wild.  Keeping it neutral with just a hint of pale blue.  Danielle went for a teardrop shaped shower style bouquet which are proving to be a very popular choice with our brides this year.  In keeping with the Campbell's flowers ethos all the Lily of the Valley was British grown, this little flower is very seasonal and has a short growing season so it was great to take advantage of its true beauty and heavenly scent at this time of year.  We've some lovely weddings booked around the same time this year, so look out it playing a starring role once again quite soon!

The bridesmaids all had little hand tied posies using the same flowers as bride with the addition of a little more soft pastel blue. For the very cute flower girl we created a tiny hoop wrapped in pale blue satin ribbon and featuring a tiny corsage of the most delicate flowers.  The stylishly simple button holes included a single white rose with eucalyptus which smelt amazing.  It's at this point we would like to acknowledge the phenomenal dresses which were all handmade by Danielle's extremely talented mum! Yes, including the Bride's gown. Truely stunning.

The photographer on the day was the creative Neil Stewart whom we worked with for our very first photo shoot here at Campbell's Flowers.  Danielle and Stephen loved the collaboration so much that they chose him to photograph their big day, we just love his wonderful rich and beautiful style.

We do hope that this has added a little dash of spring like magic to your day!  Not long now, Spring is definitely in the air.

Much love
Amy
